LOUISVILLE CARTOONIST SOCIETY

About the Louisville Cartoonist Society (LCS)

Drawn Together

The Louisville Cartoonist Society (LCS) is a Louisville, Kentucky based independent comics outfit, formed in 2009 by a group of artists who all shared the same goal…making comics.  The society members focus on sharing ideas, drawing panels together, critiquing each others’ work and the larger task of promoting and selling our own self-published books.  We encourage the creation of new comics and help local artists connect to their audience.  Cartoonists unite!

Attend our next meeting! Check out the calendar for upcoming dates and times.

One of our long time members, Bruce Thomas, created a little story to introduce the group. This was printed in the first LCS anthology.

Every Wednesday night members of the Louisville Cartoonist Society meet up at a local bar or coffee shop for a “Drink-n-Draw” (or “Booze-n-Doodle” as some of our group like to call it): a night of casual sketching and comics chit-chat. Bring your sketchbook or whatever else you are working on, along with any inspiration you might want to share with the group. We send out a weekly email to update everyone when and where we are going to meet. Typically, we meet in the side room of Zanzabar, unless they have a live show scheduled. We’ve also been known to meet at Sergio’s, Heine Bros. Coffee or Starbucks. We like to mix it up once in awhile, so get on the email list and stay up-to-date!

In the Beginning... In the Beginning...

…there was Ted. Ted Nathanson, that is. He officially started the group a few years ago to bring together all the people like himself who were creating comics in the privacy of their own homes. The LCS was created to bring local comic book creators – artists, writers, pencillers, inkers, colorists – together to help promote the growth of independent comic books in the Louisvile – Southern Indiana area.
